Summer in Braemar

There's been a lot going on!

As part of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, a Dutch youth orchestra gave a concert in St Margaret’s Church on August 2nd. A challenging programme of classical music was enjoyed by a packed house. The talented members of the orchestra were aged between 14 and 21 years.

A garden party to celebrate the Royal birth was held in the grounds of St Andrews RC church on August 18th. The youth club worked hard serving teas.

Pictured above, contestants at the Junior Highland Games held in July. Fantastic weather attracted around 1500 people to make the Games one of the best yet. Thank you to all the helpers.

Pictured above, some of those taking part in the Jacobite walk, hiking in costume from Keiloch to Auchtavan (July 20). Here they were joined by a 10 vehicle safari for a BBQ (organised by Braemar Local History Group). The ‘Jacobites’ camped overnight returning to Braemar Castle on the Sunday, being piped home in style by Dave Torrance. Weather was very kind!
